28/06/12 - Ben a' Bhuird
Thursday saw Donald, Jeff and Cliff head into the dividing buttress area of Ben a' Bhuird, where lunch was taken at one of the many Howffs in Coire nan Chlach, thereafter they did a wee variation to Slab and Arete route, as you can see conditions were as you expect this summer, we descended from the North Top (with some expert navigation being carried out) back down to Cnap a' Clerich in rising winds and drizzle back to transport.

09/06/12 - Howe of the Mearns

Sun tan lotion required at a recent training day!

29/04/12 - Tolmount
Rescue137 landing on to pick up MR personnel to search the Tolmount area for walkers lost from Glen Clova. Full winter conditions above 900m. Quick joint planning session in the front of a landrover with the aircraft crew.

21/04/12 - Ben Macdui
Recent call out involving ourselves, Cairngorm MRT and Rescue 137.

28/03/12 - Perthshire
A couple of Team members took the opportunity to travel to Highland Perthshire to observe members of Tayside Fire & Rescue being assessed on technical aspects of gorge rescue by Stu Johnston of www.climbmts.co.uk

Joint working by the various organisations involved in this type of challenging environment is certainly advantageous and it was reassuring to find that the majority of equipment and techniques being used were very familiar to our observers. Of particular interest was the Larkin Rescue Frame which is used to safely transfer the rescuer/casualty over the top edge of the gorge.

Here it is in place with the rescuer ready to be lowered to the casualty with a stretcher (below left) and this is the very realistic training venue (below right).

A very worthwhile day overall with a mutual exchange of ideas and protocols.

18/03/12 - Corrour Area
Both Aberdeen and Braemar MRTs carried out further searches around Corrour Bothy area on Saturday and Sunday 17/18 March looking for missing walker Grant Cunliffe who has now been missing for several weeks.

Despite good weather and 16 folk being out on Saturday and 27 on the Sunday still no result. Our thoughts are with his family.

10/03/12 - Injured Paraglider
Careful handling and stretcher loading required for an injured paraglide pilot who got into difficulties near Tarland. With suspected back injuries (later confirmed to have compressed lumber fracture) a vacuum mattress was used before being winched safely onboard aircraft and flown to hospital.

08/03/12 - Glen Geusachan
Ascent via the gully to the west of The Devil's Point.

3rd-5th Feb. 2012 - Avalanche Level 3 course
Mountain Rescue Teams from across Scotland take part in avalanche incident search and management training based in Braemar.

A night exercise made it all very real (below left & bottom left). Team members preparing an avalanche scenario (below right).

Searching the avalanche for casualties

02/12/11 - Jock's Road
Recent call out.

20/11/11 - Linn of Quoich
Gorge rescue training (without anyone getting wet!)

27/10/11 - Creag Leek
Today saw the team do some technical training with a 1st ascent (I'm sure) of the east face of Creag Leek, the line was very damp and green with 3 of us getting up then having a 70 metre abb off. Here you can see Kenny just topping out onto the 1st terrace wishing he had his machete! Very worthwhile excercise though.

23/10/11 - Glenshee
Today saw the team doing some Nav training in the Glenshee area. As you can see it was a civilised affair with lunch at a secret location, followed by Peter showing how to do it before we all wandered off into the mist.

25/09/11 - Bennachie
Mock rescue of a fallen climber (training session with members of Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team).
